Neuromuscular dentistry

Do you get migraines or have a painful jaw? Do you grind your teeth at night? You may not even know you are doing it because most people actually grind their teeth when they are asleep. The causes might be related to the way your top and bottom teeth fit together. Often we wonder why our tooth or crown broke off, when all we were doing was eating pasta. In fact we may have cracked our tooth many months prior to it breaking off. Other symptoms include headaches, loose teeth, Lock-Jaw, limited opening of the mouth, TMJ pain, ringing in the ears mouth breathing, and/or an open bite. Some of the diagnostic analysis includes using an EMG to determine which jaw muscles are being stressed and which position is the optimal bite position for a balanced occlusion. A TENS (tranelectricalneuromuscular stimulator), often used by Physical Therapists to relax muscles, assists in achieving proper jaw position and teeth alignment.
