Baby Tooth Dental Problems Can Develop Early
Unfortunately, the potential for tooth decay starts the moment the first baby tooth erupts. Baby Bottle Tooth Decay (BBTD) is a common, but preventable problem many parents in the Sonoma area are facing. Dr. Pang believes that allowing children to sleep with a bottle filled with any sugary liquid including formula, milk, breast milk or juice can lead to BBTD. Even breast feeding mothers should be concerned with tooth decay. If you allow your child to fall asleep while on the breast, baby tooth decay can occur. And once your child starts eating solid foods, frequent sweets or sticky foods can cause decay and should be avoided. Start good habits including dental visits with Dr. Pang. He can help your child develop strong, healthy teeth and give you suggestions on how to prevent BBTD. For more information, call Peter Pang DDS in Sonomaat (877) 835-8401. Don't Forget to Floss! Clean between teeth daily with floss or an interdental cleaner. Decay-causing bacteria can hid between teeth where toothbrush bristles can't reach. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between teeth and under the gum line. Visit Our Office Regularly! Take good care of your smile. Remember to visit the dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exams. Mouthwash Is Important, Too! Brushing and flossing may not be enough. The ADA now recommends using an antimicrobial mouthwash to reduce plaque and prevent gingivitis. |
